Description

  • Technique I - Instruction in the fundamental principles of Stanislavski's Method using exercises designed to familiarize the student with a truthful and natural acting experience.  Includes a weekly lecture and an introduction to Objective, Problem and Action
    Class enrollment is limited to 12 students. 
    (8 weeks)  $400.00. Interview required.
     
  • Technique II - Extensive instruction in Objective, Problem, and Action with application to specific roles from original assigned material, as well as deeper instruction in the Method, including Concentration, Communion, and Emotional Memory. Includes a weekly lecture and introduction to Core: Central Character and Essential Background as defined by Stanislavski. 
    (12 weeks)  $600.00
     
  • Scene Study - A course for those who have completed Technique I and Technique II. Students are assigned scenes from classical and contemporary plays to be rehearsed outside of class and brought in for review and direction. Weekly lectures focus on more complex acting principles including Super Objective and Adaptation.
    (12 weeks)  $600.00  

    After you have successfully completed acting classes I, II, and Scene Study—you are eligible for the Theatre Group Acting Company.
     
  • Voice and Movement Workshops are required. Fee is based on number of students enrolled.
     
  • Theatre Group Acting Company  - The acting company is comprised of actors who have completed their study of Stanislavski's System at Theatre Group Studio and who qualify through audition for the ongoing plays performed here.

Theatre Group Studio's training program is complete when the student finishes Technique I and II and Scene Study as well as Voice and Movement workshops. An actor is now ready to pursue acting as a profession.
 
Location, location, location

Theatre Group Studio is located in West Los Angeles in the diverse South Robertson (SoRo) neighborhood dotted with artisans, antique shops, ethnic restaurants, and tree-line residential streets. We are convenient to the Santa Monica (I-10) and San Diego (I-405) Freeways, just south of Beverly Hills and north of Culver City.

Classes are held in the day or evening. We accept cash, checks, or credit cards (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover). Students may use the installment plan if required.
